Short Term Trips

My experience with Hero Holiday in Vicente Guerrero, BC, Mexico was amazing and life changing. I believe it was the best trip of this type that I have ever been on. The thing that set it apart from other trips was the impact we had on this family by building them a house. Randy, his wife, Sonya, and his three kids now have an entirely different life. We didn’t just build them a house, but we also filled it with beds, kitchen supplies, school supplies, and of course food. One of my favourite experiences of the trip was shopping for a table. There were a few in our price range, but we felt that none of them were good enough for Randy. He deserved better. So we all pitched in a little extra and bought him a really nice table that was in good enough condition to be in any of our homes. Later, when we were handing over the keys and dedicating the house, Randy said that he wished he had more than just tamales to give us. I remember thinking that he doesn’t have to think like that anymore. He isn’t in poverty where everything is limited anymore. He has things to give, not to us obviously, but he can now bless his whole community. Randy and his family have been lifted out of poverty, and I feel like I had some part in it. That is why this was the best trip ever, and why I will never forget it. Thank you Kelowna Christian Center Missions for making this trip possible.
