Enoch & Jen Jeong's updates

2010 may - enoch & Jen Jeong's Update

Dear Family & Friends,

So much has happened over the last few months it's hard to put it all in words. The first couple of months of 2010 we were leading one of the 3 outreach teams for the September 2009 All Nations All Generations DTS! We traveled to Fort McMurray and joined up with the YWAM team there helping with their ministry in the local soup kitchen, Salvation Army, Centre of Hope and some of the local churches. We were also able to be a part of their Thursday night family nights with a group of single moms. It was a great experience for us all and we had fun! We then headed to Kelowna for a couple days on our way to Ahousat on Vancouver Island. While in Kelowna we were blessed with the opportunity to meet up with Paul Martinson and hear his heart!

We then spend a couple weeks at Ahousat with Asa and his beautiful family and the wonderful team that he works with out there. It was an amazing experience and we were blessed to be able to serve the First Nations people in many practical ways and by just sitting and listening to their stories. It was a great time for our family also in the area that we were able to catch up on the happenings of Asa & Alisha our wonderful friends and sow into their ministry!

After leaving Ahousat we went to Vancouver were we served the city during the Olympics. We walked the streets in prayer and worship, talked to people and listened to their hearts. We met up with one of our other teams for a couple days. We were also able to minister at a couple of churches while in Vancouver as well! This part of the outreach seemed like more of a relaxed time, but it was also very stretching for our staff and students alike as they had to take more of an initiative to go and talk to people on the streets. It was awesome watching everyone grow during this time. We also had our staff and students take turns in leading the last couple of weeks of outreach so this was stretching for a lot of them as well, as they faced the challenge of leading a group of people that were all so very different!

Outreach was a blast, we wouldn't have traded it for anything, but we were glad to see it come to an end only because it was very tiring doing so much driving with a little one. However, we are very proud of our little girl as she did very well driving lots and moving from one house to another!

After graduation on March 5th everything seemed so quiet and it felt a little lonely out here. It's hard to see everyone leave, but exciting to see how God has changed their lives and to see the things that he is leading them into now. Our prayers are with you all as you begin your new adventures!

We took a couple weeks off after Outreach to get a little rest before we start prepping for the next DTS, which was suppose to start this month. However, our students went from 8 to 3 in a matter of weeks and so we had to transfer our students to the school running in town.
After our break we also had a wonderful leadership retreat. It was a time of praying together and we also had some fun. Right now a lot of us are in a transition for what God is asking us as couples to do. After a lot of prayer, we as a couple felt that God is calling us to take some secondary education with YWAM. Enoch's been with YWAM for 10 years and Jen's been with YWAM 6 years, we felt that some more further training needs to take place at this time in order for us to better serve the people that God has entrust on us. Not only in spiritual areas, but also practical areas as well. Jen is planning on applying for TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). This is a 4 week course at YWAM Montana and begins on July 12 and ends on Aug.6. It's a very intense course, but Jen is looking forward to it! Once completing this program she will be given a certificate by YWAM and an English Academy in Australia. Enoch is planning on applying for SBS (School of Biblical Studies) in Taipei, Taiwan. This begins March 25, 2011 and ends the ends of December 2011. We are excited for what God has for us during this time!

We were also blessed to find out this month that we are expecting our second child. Jen is feeling well and is due on January 2, 2011. Yes, even with this new baby on the way we still feel God is calling us to take these courses. We both have a peace and excitement for what God has ahead. Hannah is also excited about the baby!

We will be here at YWAM Eagles Nest Ranch until the end of June to help with the bookings that Eagles Nest Ranch has coming in. The end of May – the end of June there is a big Korean Pastors booking coming so we will be busy helping with all areas of that booking, including transportation. Right now for the most part, Jen is just being mom. Hannah is in a stage where she always wants you around to see her accomplishments and we felt that it was really important for Jen to have this time with her and also to be released from full time ministry for this season. It has been fun, but has taken a little getting used to for Jen, who was full time in the office.

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10

At this time we are also really feeling that we need to finish paying off our truck and get a different vehicle. We have really been praying in to this and feel at this point that we are to get an SUV. God has been blessing us with some money here and there to put extra down on the loan, we are looking forward to seeing the rest come in and seeing what happens next!

We want to thank you all for your constant prayers and support. We have been truly blessed by you all! We pray that God's loving arms are extended towards you all and that you feel his warm embrace. May you be blessed far beyond how much you have blessed us! Thanks for everything.

Prayer requests:

  • For health & Safety for Jen and the baby.
  • For God's continual guidance for what's next.
  • For a new vehicle.
  • For the financial support needed to take these courses that we feel God calling us to take.

Love & Prayers Always,
The Jeong Family

2009 May - Enoch & Jen Jeong's update

Dear Family & Friends,

Wow it’s hard to believe that May is already over, so much has happened in such a short period of time. On April 25th we packed our bags and boarded the plane in Vancouver to go for three and a half weeks to South Korea. It had been along over due visit with family and a much needed time to get reconnected with Supporters and churches over there.

Our first week there was spent for the most part getting reconnected with Enoch’s sisters, Mom and a few friends. Half way through out trip we also made a 2 day trip to Mason to visit with Enoch’s Dad and see where Enoch grew up. It was a good time with his Dad and seeing his face light up when he was with his granddaughter was worth more than anything. We wished it could have been longer, but are praying that Enoch or all of us can go down the end of this year or beginning of next year to celebrate Enoch’s Dad’s 70th Birthday!

The rest of our time we were very busy with meetings almost everyday with churches, life groups, & individuals who have been supporting us. Some of them had never before met us, but had heard about what we were doing and so had begun supporting us, so it was very important and meant a lot to them for us to come and meet them and share in person what we are doing and what God has placed in our hearts. We were able to also connect with one of the small YWAM bases near Seoul Korea, they are currently running a Business DTS and were busy preparing for their outreach, so we got to watch them practice their dances and visited with some of the staff over supper. It was a short time, but was really neat to connect with them.

Our time in Korea felt like it went by fast, we wished it could have been longer so that we could have gotten together with more people that wanted to see us, but we are glad that we had the time that we did.

On May 15th we got back on the plane and headed back to Canada. Just before leaving Jen was informed that her Grandfather had passed away after being in the hospital for almost a year and then getting sick, the Lord took him on May 14th to be with him. So on May 17th we drove down to be with Jen’s family and attend the funeral and came back to the base again on May 20th.

The Ranch welcomed Paul Martinson from Kelowna, BC, while we where gone. He is the Western Canada Director for YWAM, he came to the base and spoke to the staff from May 12-15. We understand that is was a good time of connection and the staff & leaders were encouraged by his visit and found out a lot of information about YWAM Canada history and so on from him! On May 18 – 22, we welcomed Patience Gifford, from Portland, Oregon. She is a YWAMer and long time speaker with YWAM. She came and shared with the staff and encouraged us all. She shared God’s character and started off a season on Prayer at YWAM Eagles Nest Ranch. It was awesome to see the things that God did during her time with us!

During May to we had a ladies church retreat come to the Ranch, so we help serve them by doing kitchen work. We then had a kids group come out from May 28 –May 29. Enoch helped out with the Climbing wall and the kitchen as well.

Enoch is still part of the leadership and is also helping with Maintenance, there are a lot of unfinished projects at the base and we feel as a base that we are to finish the unfinished so that God can start new things. So we are excited to see things get done and to see what God has in store of us! Enoch is also in charge of the mission builders, who are such a blessing and such hard workers!

Jen is currently working mornings in the Office as the office Manager. She answers the phones in the mornings and does any computer or other stuff that may need to be done in the office. In the afternoons she focuses on taking care of Hannah and helps with little jobs that may need to be done.

Hannah is now 7 months old, she is crawling about and getting into everything. We are enjoying watching her daily achievements and seeing each new thing that she learns to do. She is a delight and a blessing to all at the base!

To start June off we will be attending a Basic Leadership Training Seminar with the base director in Banff from May 31 – June 6. We felt that this is an area that God wants us to grow in and were strongly encouraged by some of our mentors to take this, so we are excited to be able to attend.

June looks like it will be a busy month with retreat booking at the camp and then with the camp staff starting to arrive to get ready for the summer camps which will soon be happening at the base in July. On June 13th we are having a big work day where people from town are coming out to help clear all the dead wood from the ranch. We feel this is a very significant act and so do some of the churches in Medicine Hat and so they all want to come out and be a part of it!

During June we will also be working on seeing what YWAM’s role is during the summer camps. We feel that we will be playing a servant role and helping them in any way they need. We are not sure what that looks like yet, but should know soon!

We are excited to see what all God will be during the months to come! He is opening up so many doors in the churches, community and with individuals in Medicine Hat and other places for what we are doing at YWAM Eagles Nest Ranch! We are blessed to be a part of the work that he is doing during this time!

Thank you all for your prayers & support! It means so much to know that we have people like you behind us praying for us. We would love to hear from you and if God shows you anything while you pray for us please send us and email, we would love to hear what God lays on your hearts! God Bless you all!

Love & Prayers,

Enoch, Jen & Hannah Jeong
